The Sounds of Aloha Are Recruiting Singers! - Mar 23, 2023

In 2023 the Sounds of Aloha Chorus (SOA) is introducing more men to joys of a cappella harmony and our fellowship! We've been welcoming lots of guests and hope for more.

Guests are always welcome to check out any of our rehearsals, most Thursday evenings, 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. We currently meet at the Honolulu Church of Christ in Makiki. Always check our Upcoming Events calendar for the latest plan, though, as sometimes there are exceptions.

SOA has been entertaining audiences for over 70 years and is one of Hawaii's best-loved choral groups. We are proudly a barbershop chorus, but you can leave your straw hats and arm garters at home: although we love those great old songs, the contemporary barbershop scene features a variety of musical genres and arrangements.

SOA is an auditioned chorus but one made up of strong music educators. No formal singing experience is needed if you can carry a tune and want to learn. Some of our members have music degrees and extensive singing backgrounds. But others had not sung in a choral ensemble for years -- or ever. They just had a good ear—and heart!—for singing. We pride ourselves on helping ordinary voices make extraordinary music. And we are out to entertain!

We do not exaggerate when we say singing with the Sounds of Aloha could be life-changing. Besides making great music, guys who belong to our group enjoy a remarkable camaraderie. We laugh a lot and have tons of fun.
