The Sounds of Aloha Chorus and three of its quartets are preparing to head to California in October to share their music with fellow barbershop singers and fans from California, Arizona, and Nevada! The chorus and quartets will participate in the 2025 Fall Convention of the Barbershop Harmony Society’s Far Western District in at the William Saroyan Theatre in Fresno, October 9-12, 2025. 19th Avenue and VHF will take part in the quartet contest, for which our newest quartet Pau Hana will serve as mic testers and receive a full contest evaluation.
The chorus tries to make it to our district contest every few years, for the camaraderie, the chance to hone singing and performance skills at an especially high level, the invaluable feedback from exceptionally expert judges, and the gift of sharing some aloha from the islands. This year presents an extra special opportunity because part of the mission this time is to reinforce our invitation to next year’s Far Western District convention, which will be part of the larger 2026 Pan Pacific Convention right here in Honolulu, October 6-10, 2026! There’s a lot of excitement building on the west coast all the way from Southern California to British Columbia — as well as in New Zealand, Australia, and Japan! — for that unprecedented gathering!
