How to Hold an Ice Cream Social During a Pandemic!

Sounds of Aloha's picture

For years, the Sounds of Aloha have held a popular ice cream social, with roaming quartets, all-you-can-eat ice cream and toppings, and a short chorus performance at the end. This year, with most everything shut down during the COVID pandemie, we haven't been able to gather and perform live. But that challenge pales in comparison to the impact COVID has had on so many small businesses.

One of those businesses is Dave's Hawaiian Ice Cream, which has generously donated the ice cream for our past ice cream socials. This year, we wanted to return the favor, at least a little, to our friends in need. So we organized a Halloween drive-through ice cream social and sold pints of Dave's and waffle bowls from out of their Ilikai Hotel store location to drive-up customers in the hotel porte-cochère! We had socially distanced quartets performing live from the side for our customers to listen to while they awaited delivery of their orders.

We're grateful to our customers who ventured out for a touch of sweet and a touch of harmony. And we're grateful to our friends at Dave's for their support over the years.
