WANTED: Guest Singers to Give A Cappella a Try for Christmas! - Oct 26, 2017

Event date:
Oct 26 2017 - 7:00pm
Ala Wai Golf Course Club House, the Palladium (2nd floor)
404 Kapahulu Avenue
96816 Honolulu , HI
United States

The Sounds of Aloha Chorus has a standing invitation to men of all ages to come try some a cappella harmonizing. Things are on the upswing for SOA, and we are growing! Guests are welcome at any chorus rehearsal, but in November we are having a special Guest Singer Program. Interested men are invited to learn two songs with us that month and perform them with us in our December 2 holiday performance at Paliku Theatre, "An A Cappella Christmas!" No cost, and no need to audition or join if you just want to give singing a try!

We usually rehearse on Thursday nights at the Ala Golf Course Clubhouse at 404 Kapahulu Avenue, in the second floor ballroom known as the Palladium, from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. (But please note: Due to maintenance at the Palladium, some rehearsals may be held elsewhere. Check our Events listing to confirm the location.) Guests and prospective members are always welcome. If you (or a guy you know) could use some more music and fun in your life, or if you're curious about barbershop harmony, or if you sing in church and want to give another style of music a try, or if you have a thing for contemporary a cappella music but aren't sure how to pursue it, you really owe it to yourself to take a chance and just come visit! These guys did!

SOA aims high musically, but we have a strong commitment to teaching and developing the musical and performance talents of our members. Led by our inspiring musical director Mark Conching, we pride ourselves on our ability to teach ordinary singers to perform extraordinarily. Some guys come to SOA with degrees in music and extensive singing experience, while others join who never have sung in a choral group before and can't sight-read a note of music but have a good ear (and heart) for singing. Learn about joining the chorus here. Our members include teenagers, octogenarians, and everybody in between. We just need more of you! And if what would work for you at this time in your life is just an easy, short-term engagement, that’s cool with us!

Please help us spread the word to men you know. We do not exaggerate when we say the message could be life-changing. Seriously. Aside from the music, the joy, laughter, and fellowship Sounds of Aloha members enjoy are truly something special. We can't wait to share it all with more people!

P.S. Women interested in singing barbershop harmony should check out one or both local choruses of our sisters-in-song, the Sweet Adelines: Honolulu Blend Show Chorus and Na Leo Lani!
